And yes, the Xmas-party season is upon us again, and in keeping with that secular tradition oahu kayak club, Hui Wa’a is not playing second fiddle (second paddle?) to anyone – next week is our own Party/December Meeting, this year held in Waimanalo. Here is what our outgoing President, Chuck Ehrhorn, has to say about it:

Reminder to all Hui Members:Join your fellow club members at our annual Christmas party to be held this year at the Hawaii Trail & Mountain Club house.

Pu’uone St., Waimanalo. (There’s a map on the website). The party will be Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 5:30 pm to 10:00pm.

There will be food, a photo contest, awards for the progressive fishing tournament, and a grab bag for fun and prizes.

Please come, bring a potluck dish to share, your own beverages, a fun decoration for the Christmas tree, and a $10 grab bag gift if you plan to participate in the grab bag. Also, those photography buffs are encouraged to enter the photo contest, up to 5 entries allowed, must be kayak related and taken in 2011.

There will be a silent auction for the Christmas tree, winner must be able to take it home that night.

You might want to bring a camp chair as well.

To clarify the photo contest rules, submissions need to have been taken during 2011, at a “kayak-related event” which means any Club-sanctioned activity (paddle or not) as well as any private kayaking expeditions. Photos should be printed not larger than 8×10, and your name put on the back (so judges can identify the winning photographer).

There will also be a “contest” for any kayak-related videos that members may have made; a laptop and a projector will be available.

The main meat entree is covered, for potluck you should bring side dishes, pupus or dessert.

If you get lost trying to find the HTMC house, and we’ll talk you thru it.
